How To Quickly Hide Your Web Surfing From Your Boss?

What would you do if your boss barges into your workspace when you are in middle of doing something important such as checking out your facebook profile? Obviously that won’t be good for you, the boss may get mad and you may get yourself into trouble.

There are some ways that can save you from such nasty situation.

1 – Hide Window Hotkey

Hide Window Hotkey is a tiny clever program and its sole purpose is to hide those entire naughty important windows you opened before. Just download and install this little clever program.

It’s very simple to use just check the box of the open program you’d like to hide and you’re done.

You can set the hotkey (Ctrl+O) for hiding and un-hiding to be whatever you like. The default key is F8 to hide the selected windows, and Ctrl +F8 to unhide the windows.

There is also an option available to hide things with your mouse. Only click the right and left mouse buttons and your window will be hidden. It is really a very useful tool and completely free.

2 – Workfriendly

Unlike other software for hiding your “secret” work quickly, Workfriendly is a website that masks whatever you are looking inside a window that looks exactly like Microsoft Word 2003. That’s why having this program, you can check out your favorite website,  without your boss knowing because for them you will be typing something in Word.

Though its good but it does have some drawbacks such as it doesn’t display pictures or videos, so you can’t  watch YouTube videos or look at Flickr.

Another problem is that you can’t designate how large you want the word window to be, its useful for those people at work who have small 800×600 screens.

Another good feature is the little ‘Boss Key’ button at top , only hover your mouse on that and the page you are watching will be transformed into an article about procrastination. Workfriendly is great website only for those who are addicted to read blogs. Because of Workfriednly you can read blogs at work and your boss won’t catch you.

3 – Virtual Desktop Managers (VirtuaWin)

Virtual Desktop Managers are the programs from which you can have multi desktops within your own desktop and because of that it becomes easy for you to work on separate projects.

Because that you can have games on one desktop and blogs on other and your office related work on third desktop. A really handy way to organize your desktop and best thing for it is that you can use most Virtual Desktop Managers to hide your active windows from those prying eyes.

You can use any type of Virtual Desktop Manager but it will be best if you choose one that supports shortcuts.

4 – Make use of what you have

The programs of hiding active windows except Workfriendly all of them needs to be downloaded for installation but unfortunately on workplace we are not allowed for downloading any such programs. Though you can use Workfriendly but it don’t work for YouTube and for Flickr sites. So its better to find such way that don’t need any downloading. So I developed a set of directions that don’t need any downloading.

Here are these simple directions:

• First setup your desktop same like as you are actually working on it. Then press “ Print Screen/SysRq” button on keyboard.
• Open MS paint and paste the screenshot after pasting save it to the desktop.
• Just click right at that screenshot image and set it as background.
• Then hide your desktop icons just simple clicking right anywhere on your desktop and un-checking “Show Desktop Icons”.
• Final step is that click right on the task bar then click on ‘Properties’. There you will see a box with option ‘Auto Hide the Taskbar’ hit on that.

After setting that all you can do whatever you want, then if someone will try sneak on your desktop simple press ‘Windows Key + D’ to minimize everything. The person will never know what you were looking your desktop until he wont check closely.
