Motorola Milestone is one of the thinnest, sliding QWERTY phones available in the market. The outer look is similar to the iPhone 3GS, except that its slightly thicker, 13.7mm, due to the presence of the physical keyboard.
However if you compare it to other smartphones such as the HTC Touch Pro2, it doesn’t look too big. The best thing about Motorola Milestone is its screen. Being the first Android phone to accommodate a 3.7” touch screen having 480 x 854 pixel support for up to 16 million colors, it displays easily readable text with excellent display colors.
There are four capacitive touch-sensitive buttons below the screen that perform various Android functions such as back, menu, home, and search. However, being close to the bottom portion of the screen you can accidentally press them sometimes when using the on-screen portrait QWERTY.
The Motorola MILESTONE has an ARM Cortex-A8h processor running at 550MHz, which is faster than most of the chips that are present in today’s Android handsets. The 5 megapixel camera gives great results, with the flash doing a good job too.
One of the main differences between the Motorola MILESTONE and the DROID is the absence of Google Maps Navigation in the GSM version. This is due to the fact that free Google navigation is still (officially) unavailable to European consumers. But to counter this, Motorola has provided MOTONAV, an app which comes with a 60 day free trial. It is a great program, offering 3D overviews with volumetric buildings and pictures representing nearby sightseeing spots.
The application also has a large database of interesting places such as restaurants, parking lots, hotels together with ample information about them.
The Motorola MILESTONE is one of the best smartphones, having some awesome functionality, a capable browser and probably the best camera found on Android phones today.
