Motorola Droid has now been introduced, and no doubt, it is a strong competitor of iPhone.
The Motorola Droid has a beautiful display along with the advantages offered by Android 2.0, including a faster Web browser, Google Maps Navigation application, improved messaging and contact management. The phone also offers excellent call quality and longer talk time.
Design and Display
Display of the phone is outstanding but the design might not look attractive. Its because of its dull and the sharp angles resulting in a boxy look. It has a WVGA touch screen display, with size of 3.7 inches and resolution of 440×854 pixels.
This phone is a little bit larger in size as compared to iPhone. Moreover, Droid has four touch controls including Back, Home, Search, and Menu.
Though it does not have a physical Talk control you can use calling functions through widget on the display. Furthermore, the keys on the keyboard are large enough making usage easier for the customer.
Rest includes a volume rocker, camera shutter, Micro-USB port, 3.5 millimeter headset jack on the phone’s top part and microSD card slot. However, in order to make use of memory card slot you need to take out the battery first.
Some of the key features include:
Droid is the only smartphone to run Android 2.0 till date.
Common applications like E-mail, calendar and contacts. Moreover, you can also have an access to Gmail.
Web browsers supporting HTML5. You can add visual bookmarks and toggle between multiple windows through a simple list view.
It allows you to surf internet and search World Wide Web
Have GPS/A-GPS installed in it.
Google Maps Navigation application allows you to receive voice-guided, text-to-speech directions, instead of just text-based instructions.
Supports MP3, AAC, AMR-NB, WAV, MIDI files.
5-megapixel camera that produce quality pictures.
Common features like text and multimedia messaging, a calculator, and an alarm clock. Moreover, it also has a WiFi, Bluetooth, USB mass storage, Google voice search, Google Talk, instant messaging, visual voice mail, PC syncing, and speaker-independent voice dialing.
It is rated at the top as far as its internal performance and voice or call quality is concerned. However, it doesn’t have dual-mode capability for local CDMA networks and GSM networks abroad.
