It seems that by launching these two phone, the company is trying to get a proper feel of the market and showcase its personalized S-CLASS interface on a brand new platform.
LG GW620 has somewhat obsolete software, as it runs Android version 1.5, whereas the current OS edition is 2.1.
Design
The GW620, which happens to be LG´s first Android-based handset is a hefty device with a side-sliding QWERTY keyboard. It has a 3-inch screen with HVGA resolution. The image quality is good and due to the light sensitivity sensor, the display remains usable in direct sunlight as well.
The 5-row QWERTY keyboard is awesome. The key layout is similar to that of normal computer keyboards and the numeric buttons allow you to type really fast. It also has arrow keys that make scrolling really easy, help you to play games better. All the buttons are large enough and properly separated, so you won’t face any trouble with them.
The LG GW620 has a number of pre-installed programs, including Quickoffice that opens Office 2007 files and the Moxier applications that provide Exchange server support.
The LG GW620 runs smoothly irrespective of the application being used and the handset remains totally usable.
Camera
The LG GW620 comes with an amazing number of available options. The interface has virtually all functions that are used with top camera phones, including macro mode, exposure control, white balance, various shooting modes (consecutive shots, panorama, flaw removal), ISO sensitivity, a number of presets, manual and auto focus, face and smile detection etc.
Performance
The LG-GW620 has an average in-call quality, but the battery life is quite impressive. The LG GW620 can spend three whole days in moderate usage scenarios, i.e. if you use it for talking and surfing the Internet via 3G. Moreover, the battery is capable of providing almost 8hrs of continuous talk and 500hrs of standby time, which is great.
