Thanks a lot. I live in a university house with five other people. The guy who manages and owns the router has left it in his room (locked) while he goes home to Malaysia. None of us have the router password and we all connect in via RJ-45 (no security needed) however my laptop doesn’t and has no RJ-45 port so I need to get in via WiFi. This is going to be so helpful. Which just goes to show that there are legit purposes for this

I’m sittin here, downloading the complete DVD set (with commentary) of Prison Break at 600kB/s and some tool who read a tute on the web breaks into my wifi and starts using my bandwidth. I end up downloading at 100kB/s. Seriously anyone tries that I’m gonna fuck them up because they’re on my network now. There’s one thing you do not steal ever, and that is bandwidth.

Firstly, the guy encrypted his connection (even though he used WEP), which probably means he doesn’t want others to use his connection (it’s none of your business that he’s gone for the biggest part of the week and the connection just sits there idly).

This only works if they’re using WEP. Most routers for the last several years have also offered WPA – in fact WEP is only still included for compatibility with older hardware.

You don’t hack your neighbors internet to start downloading torrents (That’s wrong, you ARE in fact slowing down the connection of the person paying for it… not cool) , BUT, if it’s just to browse some websites, what’s the big deal ?!

For starters… don’t even bother to listen to the poor buggery people who keep on criticizing your tutorial.. it’s a HUGE help to people (like me) who are always on the move and needing to hitch up to a network ‘temporarily’ and exchange an eMail with work or to download a quick file or two.

As for the fact that ‘hacking’ peoples WiFi is wrong (since you’re stealing their bandwidth, etc) but if it’s for the right purposes and it’s an emergency (e.g: need to hand report in urgent whilst you’re on the go) – then this is absolutely useful!

And as for some poster(s) who asked ‘Who still uses WEP?’… trust me my friend… plenty of people still use WEP around my area ;D (Not me though)

well considering I’m using my neighbors WiFi that’s at 54mbs right now, I can honestly say why should I have to pay for Internet. It’s a resource open to the public and should be free to everyone at reasonable speeds. Doesn’t really mater how you get there.

well i searched the hell of the net, been at more then 30 different forums and much more articles and yet did not found any usable or understandable information on how to…
they all use the same tools like in this article or some 2 or 3 more but all on the same idea.
now the problem is that none of this tools is suitable for using with Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945BG Network Connection.
now the Q is: is there a package of tools compatible to use with this adapter?
i’ll be glad for some tips links or any other info.

p.s. from what i did read (and i did read a lot) 90% of this simple to use or more famous tools and packages are pretty limited on the list of adapters they support so i guess it would be interesting for a lot of folks.

You know, my router that I paid like $40 for, has this thing called access control, it prevents anybody with a different mac address that what is specified from connecting to the network.
So anybody who is so concerned with their precious security, then they deserve to be hacked if they don’t use access control, you can have no password and still block people from connecting. And most routers have functions to boot people from the network.
Point being, if you aren’t going to properly to protect things, they deserve to be hacked.

Like the posters said above me there are a ton of legit reasons for having this work around.

I don’t see any problem with using someone else’s wifi. My network’s open. A couple neighbors use it. It’s cool as long as they don’t torrent. As long as my bandwidth isn’t impacted, we’re cool. They know this. Common courtesy.

My other neighbors are a**holes with their security-enabled networks and guess what? – Nobody likes them!

That said, Wifi is as important as any utility, it should be free! There’s already a movement across the country for enabling “hot-spots” throughout the major cities. Hack the planet I say!

You could always err.. knock on their door and ask if you can borrow their wifi at certain times of day…

(and of course while you’re out even offer them to borrow yours too, or if you each have ISP problems when you need to do something really important online – thats what I’ve done, I work from home sometimes and I really need a backup not connected to the same ISP occasionally).

I wonder how the author will feel when someone uses his open internet connection to hack into a bank or distribute child pornography so they don’t have to worry about the authorities tracking them back to their actual point of origin. Ha,i suspected someone was using my wifi,my router would go all blinky i knew something was up i guess at the time i deserved it as i had only a wep,while i was smoking i noticed them both at a table on laptops seemingly as close as they could get to my router,and sure enough my router was goin nuts,so i just had fun with it id wait till i saw the router going crazy and turn it off…wait 5 min and turn it back on and so forth,sometimes id hear them yell and cuss,especially when they were using it to stream Pandora or show people stuff at their parties,their squeals of dismay bought joy to my heart and gave me a boner,I guess they got sick of the connection dropping all the time cause he actually knocked at the door and asked me if he could use my connection cause the one he was using sucked.It wasn’t like they were poor he lived rent free in his mommy and daddy rental house and he and his gf made good money,

I dont really care if someone uses my internet only if there downloading which slows my internet down. I use my neighbors internet while im downloading on my own internet because its to slow to browse on the internet while im waiting for my downloads to finish.

This is a very good tutorial on how to hack wifi, well done but they really need to make just 1 program that you can just click on the desired connection point and it give you the password

This works but it’s very impractical since you need 2 network adapters…

Its breaking federal law to hack into someones ISP. If you get caught (and I have seen it happen) you will be in front of a federal judge, fined for sure and maybe go to jail if the judge is in a bad mood. I am a CISCO guy and our security people are pretty with it so be careful who you try to hack. The fortune 500 guy may know more than you…or me…

Aside from other considerations, WEP has not been a safe WIFI solution for years.

earthshine….your MAC list really doesn’t matter, all I would do is spoof my MAC to match yours and kick your ass off your OWN wireless network and connect. Yes you can Ddos someone off their own wireless network. It’s called deauth aircrack can do it. You all should stop using Windows for wireless crap and move over to Linux and learn backtrack if you wan’t to play. WEP/WPA is not good wireless proctection these days, Hell you can pay 13.00$ and have a website crack a WPA handshake for you. Or download some rainbow tables and crack the WPA key yourself. Of couse Windows users wouldn’t know about that most likely.

Just to let you know, there are newly developed anti sniffing sw in the air being transmittted. eg. bix-if.exe and are now out there and can permanently damage your laptops or other gadgets once it detects your using any kind of spoofing or attempting to enter any wifi AP through sniffing. It sends out delton packets which will bury itself deep into your OS, whatever gadgets you are using (laptops or iphones). It will then continuously send out packets in .09ms/sec making your laptop unstable until it crashes permanently. I suggest you just for a wifi subscription instead of paying for another laptop > OR< you can always take the chance..

dude my neighbor has a 54mbps wifi network and i just went to the store bought him cheap wine and gave it to him, then i just said that i have problems with my router and asked him for his password.Of course he gave it to me and now i use his ip address to download all sorts of stuff.Thats more easy than hacking. you just need 5 dollars and a neighbor

@George, this requires two wireless adapters, whether it’s a built in card or a USB stick adapter. One has to be used exclusively by CommView while the other is used for normal WiFi protocol.
