Free Turn-by-Turn Navigation For Windows Mobile Phones

In order to compete well in the market, Microsoft has introduced a new feature in its Windows Mobile phones. This unexpected edition has been done by adding free turn-by-turn navigation to the Bing app.

Analogous to Google’s plans, Bing will utilize the Bing Maps service and your mobile phone’s internal GPS to find the exact route to your destination, guiding you through voice commands on every step along the way.

Reportedly, this new functionality will be available for all Windows 6.x handsets, which includes the HTC HD2 and Touch Pro 2.

The launch of this new, free GPS function is an addition to Nokia’s new strategy of increasing its sales. Earlier this year, Nokia made Nokia’s Ovi Maps free too, after which they have been downloaded more than 10 million times.

Although Google also plans for such free GPS service, but they have just reached the completion of fully voice-enabled guidance, and so any such free service will take a long time to come.

Also, as this GPS has been incorporated into the Bing app rather than the Windows Mobile operating system, this feature should also be available for Windows phone 7 at launch, which will be launched later this year. You can check out the new edition by logging on to m.bing.com on your mobile just now.
