Posted on 21 December 2009 by noor

The year 2009 was truly the year of iPhone. We can surely call it the best year for Apple. Although many smartphones tries hard to catch up, Apple’s iPhone has remained in the top position throughout the year.

According to the recent figures released by a mobile advertising company, Admob, the iPhone has experienced significant growth in most of the major markets all over the world.

The figures show that only the US makes up for 50% of the global user base of iPhone and iPod, followed by Japan which accounts for 17% of the global user base.

Although these figures may not be completely accurate, but they do clearly show that the iPhone is growing steadily.

However, no one knows what might happen in the upcoming year. With Google’s Nexus One on it’s way, Apple might have to catch up following a new technique.

Reportedly, Google has talked with mobile phone operators like T-Mobile and Vodafone and is also currently testing its first phone internally through its employees, a process known as ‘dogfooding’.

There is some mixed opinion in the market about whether Google’s Nexus One will stir the mobile phone market the same way as the iPhone did or not.

Some experts think that Google is not ready to market its own-branded smartphone and should update the Android OS instead, through feedback from its employees.

There is also a rumor circulating in the market that Google will be launching the Nexus One in the US on January 5 next year for $199 on T-Mobile.

However, the question still remains whether Google’s Nexus One will take over Apple’s iPhone or not? We will only know once the Google phone is released.
