Apple, Google Continue To Overwhelm Windows Mobile
Last week, the research firm Gartner released some figures that show that Windows mobile is rapidly loosing its market share due to Apple’s iPhone, RIM’s Blackberry and Google’s Android.

From Q3 2008 to Q3 2009,the Microsoft’s mobile platform lost 28% of its global smartphone market share. It previously had 11 % share in the world’s smartphones, which fell to 7.9%.
At the same time, Apple’s iPhone share rose from 12.9% to 17.1%, whereas BlackBerry’s rose to 20.8% from 16%.
However, the Google’s Android OS has been far more impressive. According to Gartner, it already makes up for almost 4% of all global smartphone sales.
The reason behind Windows Mobile phones failing popularity appears to be their reputation as devices for work, not play in the consumer’s mind.
The good thing is that Microsoft is aware of the fact that it has a problem, and is working to overcome it. In order to do this, it is re-branding the entire mobile phone ecosystem as ‘Windows Phone’, by introducing an innovative range of mobile services that are more consumer-focused.
One of the first phones introduced is the HTC HD2, which is no doubt, a great set.
