It has been reported that Microsoft has developed a new line of mobile phones which will be able to supply both entertainment as well as application support. This means that it will be able to satisfy both the business-focused Blackberry users and the entertainment or social media-oriented iPhone customers.

On Tuesday, the company announced a new series of mobile phones which will be powered by its Windows mobile software. The company’s new tagline which is, “One Phone for Work and Play” summarizes all its functionalities.
The arrival of these phones will therefore challenge Blackberrys, iPhones, and other new Google-powered phones, by its multi-purpose software and functionality.
According to Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer, everyone wants to connect quickly to the people and information that’s important while at work and at home. The Windows phone will allow people to take their entire world of digital information, communications, applications and entertainment with them wherever they go.
The new Windows powered phones that will be available in North America include the HTC Pure from AT&T, the HTC Imagio from Verizon Wireless, the Samsung Intrepid from Sprint and the HTC Tilt 2 from AT&T.
Most of these Windows phones will have touch screens similar to the iPhone, and features such as easy Web browsing. And as the officials say, connecting to platforms such as Facebook and Twitter will be much easier. Moreover, the phones will be able to back up and share heavy data, and even utilize business-heavy programs like Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Along with the advent of new phones, Microsoft has also launched Windows Marketplace for Mobile, in competition with Apple’s popular App Store. Microsoft’s new store is launching with 246 apps, including apps built by MySpace, Netflix and ZAGAT, along with numerous games.
