Apple Thinking to Patch iPhone Security Flaw

A UK based carrier told BBC today that Apple will trying to remove a serious security fault in their iPhone. This iPhone security flaw will give hacker opportunity to disable or take control of the device.

Although Apple and AT&T have not said anything about device’s security flaw. Apple will launch this patch on Saturday via iTunes. Charlie Miller is the man who have presented the flaw at Black Hat security conference. A remote hacker can disable or take over iPhone by sending them a series or hundreds of hidden SMS. A square character only appears in the last message.

Apple: Jailbreaking iPhones Could be a Threat to Cell Phone Networks

In a report issued by Apple to the U.S. Copyright Office, it has been claimed by Apple that jailbreaking iPhones could cause “potentially catastrophic” attacks against cell phone networks,as reported by wired.

More Holes Found in Web’s SSL Security Protocol

Some serious flaws have been found by the security researchers in software that uses the SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) encryption protocol which is used to secure communications on the Internet.

On Thursday, at the Black Hat conference in Las Vegas , a number of attacks has been unveiled by the researchers that could be used in order to compromise secure traffic that is travelling between Web sites and browsers.

This type of attack could make an an attacker able to steal passwords, he may hijack an on-line banking session or even a Firefox browser update can be pushed out by him that contained malicious code, all these things have been told by the researchers.

Barnes & Noble Launches Free Wi-Fi

Barnes & Noble are hoping to sell more e-books so that they can compete with Amazon.com‘s Kindle.

On Tuesday free Wi-Fi has been launched by Barnes & Noble at its bookstores, which provides a convenient way to buy and download electronic books to its customers.

AT&T will provide the free wireless hotspots, by which Barnes & Noble’s paid Wi-Fi network has been managed since 2005. In 50 states 777 stores are being operated by the bookseller and it offers more than 700,000 e-book titles.

Microsoft Retail Stores Announced for Arizona and California

Today it has been announced by Microsoft that it will open its first two retail stores that are similar to those of its archrival Apple Inc. in Arizona and California.

According to Cnet, it has been confirmed by the Vole that on Tuesday it has signed leases on storefronts in those two upscale bedroom communities.

The Redmond, Wash., giant will open stores in Scottsdale, Ariz. and in Mission Viejo Apparently. Apparently, the Mission Viejo location has been targeted by Microsoft because there’s already an Apple store in the same mall.

It has been said by Kevin Turner, who is Microsoft’s chief operating officer,that his company’s strategy is such that they will put some of its stores near rival Apple stores.

According to news reports, these two stores should open in the fall.
