DirecTV2PC: Watch Satellite TV on PC
DIRECTV customers who have a DIRECTV Plus® HD DVR receiver can now watch recorded satellite TV programs on their PC using the software available at their Website. Customer will also be able to stream High Definition (HD) content over LAN. Currently the software is only available on windows and it’s still in its Beta stage of development.

While some reviews report that the software download is broken and DIRECTV is also likely to launch its very own Satellite TV Tuner card in near future. There are also rumors that DISH Network is also going to follow suit and bring it’s rival software/hardware solution to market.
While DirecTV2PC sounds promising, It is not the only way to watch satellite TV programming on PC. SkyStar already has a very good TV Tuner solution. TiVo’s Series2 Dual Tuner DVR, TiVo HD, and Series3 HD DVR come standard with an Ethernet port for wired networking. All you need is a Free TiVo Desktop software to watch Cable TV on PC over wired or wireless LAN.

Very cool. This could solve the eternal battle between my husband and I over the show we watch. He could watch his westerns on the TV while I find something that doesn’t make me want to kill myself on my laptop!
