How to Double Firefox Browsing Speed on Dialup Connection

Content Interrupt Parsing:This preference controls if the application will interrupt parsing a page to respond to UI events. It does not exist by default. Right-clickÂ anywhere in the about:config window, select New and then Boolean from the pop-up menu. Then:

Enter content.interrupt.parsing in the New boolean value pop-up window and click OK.
When prompted to choose the value for the new boolean, select true and click OK.

Rather than waitingÂ until a page has completely downloaded to display it to the user, Mozilla applications will regularly render what has been received to that point. This option controls the maximum amount of time the application will be unresponsive while rendering pages.

Right-click anywhere in the about:config window, select New and then Integer from the pop-up menu.
Enter content.max.tokenizing.time in the New integer value pop-up window and click OK
You will be prompted to enter a value. Enter 2250000 and click OK.

Content Notify Interval:This option sets the minimum amount of time to wait between re-flows. Right-click anywhere in the about:config window, select New and then Integer from the pop-up menu.

Type content.notify.interval in the New integer value pop-up window and click OK.
You will be prompted to enter a value. Enter 750000 and click OK.

Content Notify Timer: This option sets if to re-flow pages at an interval any higher than that specified by content.notify.interval.

Right-click anywhere in the about:config window and select New and then Boolean from the pop-up menu.
Type content.notify.ontimer in the New boolean value pop-up window and click OK.
You will be prompted to choose the value for the new boolean. Select true and click OK.

Notify Back Off Count: This option controls the maximum number of times the content will do timer-based re-flows. After this number has been reached, the page will only re-flow once it is finished downloading.

Right-click anywhere in the about:config window and select New and then Integer from the pop-up menu.
Enter content.notify.backoffcount in the New integer value pop-up window and click OK.
You will be prompted to enter a value. Enter 5 and click OK.

Content Switch Threshold: You can interact with a loading page when content.interrupt.parsing is set to true. When a page is loading, the application has two modes: a high frequency interrupt mode and a low frequency interrupt mode. The first one interrupts the parser more frequently to allow for greater UI responsiveness during page load.
The low frequency interrupt mode interrupts the parser less frequently to allow for quicker page load. The application enters high frequency interrupt mode when you move the mouse or type on the keyboard and switch back to low frequency mode when you had no activity for a certain amount of time. This preference controls that amount of time.

Right-click anywhere in the about:config window and select New and then Integer from the pop-up menu.
Enter content.switch.threshold in the New integer value pop-up window and click OK.
You will be prompted to enter a value. Enter 750000 and click OK.

NG Layout Initial Paint Delay: Firefox renders web pages incrementally, they display whatâ€™s been received of a page before the entire page has been downloaded. Since the start of a web page normally doesnâ€™t have much useful information to display, Firefox will wait a short interval before first rendering a page. This preference controls that interval.

Rightclick anywhere in the about:config window and select New and then Integer from the pop-up menu.
Enter nglayout.initialpaint.delay in the New integer value pop-up window and click OK.
You will be prompted to enter a value. Enter 0 and click OK.

These all tweaks, tips and tricks are really good, they work too. But, at the end of the day nothing compares to a Fast CPU, More RAM and a Blazing Fast Internet Connection. A dailup will always be a dialup, A T1 will be T1… there is no comparison and no trick in the world can make a dialup perform like a DSL…Forget it…

But still we try and you can see I am trying to get most juice out of my dialup

Well, I use dialup and 65% of the total internet users are still on dialup…

In Africa, the majority of internet users still rely on dial-up connection.
This post promise to be help to us. I recommend that all dial-up users should stumble and digg it to give it the attention it deserve. The information it contains is still useful for a good number of people.

1) see your tip 5 ..now look your ip address ,still we are using ipv4
not ipv6 so making ipv6 enable will improve speed of Firefox??
2) pipelining :-from 2 tip….multiple requests can be sent before any responses are received. This is known as pipelining. what you understand from pipe?? requests are pipe one by one,right?????

well, some people still use it. it is just sufficent to have a text browser (the one which doesnt load images, java ect) to have a fast connection. if you also add this trick it will look like you have a T1 connection!

Also you can make firefox not to load pages from options menu..
